I have met many WELSH men and women that are PROUD to be Welsh. Proud to be a Celt in a world of Saes! and many that are passionate about it.

But it makes me think, what does it achieve?
Welsh Nationalism?
Solidarity? Community?

Having recently spoken to a lot of Welsh farmers and landowners, I get the impression that Cymru Am Byth is a myth.

As much as I hate to say it, Cymru has lost its way, its yearning and even its meaning.

The Maibion Glyndwr, (in my humble opinion) needs to be revisited. But in a different way.

The mines are gone. The coal is obsolete. The future is what we make it.

No more industry based communities, no more local employment?
WHY?

Because we as the 'United Kingdom', no longer see ourselves as a production industry, but as a service industry.
This is fundamentally the wrong mindset.

Wales (CYMRU) has a heritage. A heritage based in this country, devolved from this country and subjugated from this country.

A long held belief that Wales will be Great Again! Only exists in Rugby,
and of course the Welsh Nationalists. AKA: Europeans.

Again, (in my humble opinion), many towns and villages in Wales, need support. Assisting in the local recycling, reclamation and re-use of mainstream waste.

Landfill Tax Credit in 2008 costs £84.50 per tonne of waste to landfill. On average each individual produces enough wasted energy to justify the Council Tax subsidy!

But we need to think 'outside of the box'. This ideology will not 'float its own boat'. The only way to achieve Sustainable Development locally, is through direct involvement.

I am therefore writing a new blog and website called:

thearcproject

ARC stands for Assisted Recycling Communities.

The domain name is listed across: Google, Yahoo, Facebook and others.

Feel free to view, comment and digest!!!

I am slowly re-adjusting to normality (whatever that might be)!!

Walking down the streets seeing the cars and lorries steaming by, watching people trudging around, going to work, off to the shops. The weirdest thing, on Monday night after leaving the festival fields was hearing adverts on the tv and radio.

For anyone reading this, that has never experienced a festival atmosphere I can only say "It is a different world". Generally everyone is nice to each other, people talk, chat, hug and kiss. Children run around playing with things they've made or found. Fires burn, music plays and the smells and sounds of happiness are all around.

I do not wish this to sound crass, but I went to work Small Nations because I wanted to find myself, well at least a part of myself.
For many years my nearest and dearest have told me that I have lost my Shaman, my inner spirit.

I used to work the festival circuit almost a decade ago and after a long summer on the road, I decided to call it a day.
I thought I wanted something better. An education, a career and financial security. While much of this I have achieved at various times and to varying degrees, it did not seem to make me happy. I felt deep down there was something missing.

The initial boredom spirals into moodiness, the continued use of alcohol and drugs without purpose or effect create a new and sustained feeling of uselessness and pointlessness and depression....Break the Ever Decreasing Circle.

So, after having volunteered to Recycle last years festival, this year I was pro-active in my involvement. I joined the committee, attended meetings, organised the waste and recycling infrastructure...and...
I arrived on site on Thursday 10th July at 11:30am, I was the second committee member on site and I found that things had already gone 'tits-up'.

A week before, we were seriously discussing cancelling the festival.
Thank the Gods we did not.
Despite all the problems that nature and various humans threw at us, we accepted them, we dealt with them and we put together what has generally been described as "the best Small Nations Festival to date".

It was hard work, it was exhausting and in parts it was painful, but it happened none the less.

So before I digress too much, I must return to my initial point.
I found my Shaman and he was in a field, in a valley in Cilycwm.

So thank you to the elements, thank you to the people and most of all thank you to my Shaman for finding me, again.

Love & Light, Blessed Be.

Cycling?

All the powers that be, including a "Con. boy" saes that cycling is good for you!

But is it cheap, affordable and time-saving?

Lets discuss...A case in point.

I am now doing some VOLUNTARY work for a Social Enterprise in our nearest major city, Swansea [Abertawe], Cymru.

RECYCLE, is a project setup by BEN (Black Environment Network) in conjunction with the Swansea Environment Network. They reclaim, recycle! and re-use bikes, donated by local people. Reselling them to local people for ONLY £20.

Now, I live in Sir Gar (Carmarthenshire) and although I live 250 yards from the A48, which links directly to the M4 and Swansea, Cardiff, Bristol, London, EU...etc.
In order for me to get into Swansea for my 8 hours of voluntary work....

I have to...
a) leave the house at 8am in a car, travel 4 miles in the opposite direction, wait 10-20 minutes for a train that takes 45 minutes to get into Swansea and then walk/cycle 2 1/2 miles to work.

At a cost of £4.40 return. Or £4.10 one way!

b) Get a Bus! from my village runs, 3 times a week twice a day.
So, 10:40 am - leave - 11:20 arrive
at a cost of £4.50 return

c) Cycle 3 miles down a dual carriage way to a rural bus shelter, lock my bike up up and pay £4.00 each way or £150.00 per 3 months for a travel pass!!

On a quick Travel Planner search! Walking from my village to Swansea...is 14.9 miles! An average time of 4.5 hours!!!!
at a cost of {a heart attack!}

WOW...Isn't public transport great here in Wales?!

PS. You cannot take bicycles on Buses in Wales, (as they seem to need the room for Prams and Pensioners!).

I am interested in peoples opinions about Free-Cycling, Public Transport and other related stuff. If I get enough responses I might open a new Blog, just on this subject. As in our area there is a 'Proposed National Cycle Network 47' "The Celtic Trail", it would be good to get peoples opinions on THEIR national cycle network routes, ALSO PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY.

PLEASE DISCUSS.

>One afternoon at Cheers, CliffClavinwas explaining the Buffalo Theory to his buddy Norm.

Here's how it went:

"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first this natural selection >is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of >the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the
slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells.

But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.

In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That’s why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

WARNING: The consumption of alcohol may make you think you are whispering when you are not!

Also! An Ex-PM of the UK, said, I have taken more out of alcohol than Alcohol has taken out of me!

The Assembly...Known in Welsh (or sold in Welsh as Y Senedd)!

I watched with interest BBC1 11:05pm Thurs. Question Time from Edinburgh. The total slamming of New Labour and the communal rapport for LOCAL COMMUNITY politics. Scotland seems to want full independance from the UK gov. plc.
Quoted was 300 years of subjugation, but...erm haven't the Welsh had much longer?!

I viewed with disappointment yesterday, the 'speech' not really rabble-rowsing! From B.liar in Llandudno, for the Welsh New Labour Party conference. Not spending his last few hours at conference, discussing how Wales will benefit from another 4 years of NL Gov. in Wales, he seemed to spend his time ripping into Rt. Hon D. Cannabis MP. and blurbling about the 10years of 'Education, Education, Education', 'tough of crime, tough on the causes of crime'. Please remember today is not a day for sound-bites!!
Did not mention LibDem or more importantly for Wales...Plaid Cymru.

Anyway, 8pm or there-abouts this evening! A few strong welsh boys are going to stand on a grassed field with a few strong french guys! Throw each other in the dirt and run around with an odd shaped ball for 80 mins.

4 Years Ago, the world was aghast when 'Our Boys' won the Grand Slam.
2007, so far we are going for a duck!
